International Scientific Symposium on “The earthquake of 26 November 2019 with a magnitude of 6.4 in Durrës, Albania: Regional Seismicity, Regional Geodynamics and Seismic Hazard”, (ISDE-2023)”
Organized by Geoscience Institute (IGJEO), “Albanian Association of Earthquake Engineering (SSIS-AAEE)” and “Empowerment Project Foundation (EMPRO), Tirana, Albania” held on March 28-29, 2023, at the Tirana International Hotel & Conference Center, Tirana. It was introduced one of the most famous scientists from the USA, Mark Peterson, who is a very well know in the field of seismology/earthquake risk, as well as many other well-known names in Europe and beyond. A more valuable presentation was held by Prof. Arben Pitarka, who was also the main contributor to the organization of the Symposium. The presentations were held from the latest studies related to earthquakes and the field of seismology in the country and in the region. Special importance was given to the Seismic Maps published by IGJEO, presented by Prof. Llambro Duni; Prof. Ylber Muceku; Prof. Neki Kuka and new staff of Igeo, like Dr. Anila Xhahysa or an Albanian colleague who has completed doctoral studies in Italy Dr. Enes Veliu.
There were also several presentations about risk
reduction and management of post-earthquake consequences by Prof. Mihail Garevski;
Stephane Bryle and Agim Seranaj.
